Nikon Digital Camera Series

Can a digital camera produce images rivaling the best 35mm transparencies? Up until now, maybe not. But, with the introduction of the Nikon D2x, you may want to look seriously at the benefits of digital imaging again!

From my own personal experience with the D2x, the Image quality is not just equal to or better than the best 35mm, but even approaches scanned medium format film images. No more film scanning for me!

All the power, speed, and longevity expected from the best of film cameras, and the high resolution of a premium digital imaging system is found in this handsome imaging machine.

Combined with top Nikkor lenses, the D2x will deliver images meeting the requirements of the most demanding photographers--Professionals!

The Nikon D2x is a professional-level camera with features needed by those making a living with their images, or by well-financed camera lovers. It's not cheap, with a standard price of $4,995.00 USD, but is a tank of a camera, and made to last. With a rated shutter life of 200,000 images, it can be used for many years of productive and creative imaging.

There's no reason to be overly concerned about "digital camera obsolescense" with this camera. The D2x is easily capable of making a 16x20 inch print, or a double-page magazine spread. With that level of resolution, and the heavy-duty build of a pro Nikon body, one can expect a long and fruitful life from their camera and a significantly greater return on their hardware investment.

The D2x has a pixel-to-printer resolution of 9.49x14.29 inches, which is 4288x2848 pixels or 12.2 megapixels. The standard ISO range is 100 to 800, along with approximate 1600 (HI-1) and 3200 (HI-2) ISO modes.

It's a newly recognized fact that grainless digital images generally enlarge better than film images, so some truly astounding fine-art giclee prints can be created from the D2x. The extremely high-quality image of the D2x can easily be enlarged up to 200% without significant image degradation (this exceeds 16x20 inch prints). So, nature photographers have a camera that will make truly beautiful images of all things natural.

Let's look at a few nature type images to see what I mean: (Click any image to see an 800-pixel wide version)

This is more than a review, it's an up and coming book on the D2x that will be called, uh, I'm not yet sure! Why don't you send me an e-mail with a suggested title! (E-mail DD) I'd like to hear from you with suggestions as to what YOU want in a D2x book. Thanks!
